Just like any other wireless deice it has a usb receiver which is plugged into the usb port of your computer which sends signals wirelessly to the keyboard which intern responds to the signals and works accordingly, when you have the receiver plug into your computer you can even use other Logitech wireless device with the same receiver. the receiver will be a small usb plug and play device its smaller than the regular usb wireless receiver, You can add just about five different wireless devices with the receiver.
